Job Description

About the Role

The Email Marketing Manager will be responsible for supporting execution of the company's digital marketing strategy leveraging various technologies including Salesforce Marketing Cloud. The role focuses on generating qualified leads, designing and executing digital marketing campaigns, measuring engagement and sales impact, and optimizing campaign creative and strategy. The candidate should have a deep understanding of customer behavior, the product discovery journey, and how to communicate brand and product value propositions within the customer's context.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute email communication strategy to increase customer acquisition, engagement, retention, and growth.
  • Manage all internal and external email campaigns on the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform, including setup, testing, deployment, and reporting.
  • Set up and test new channels including SMS Text and Ad Studio within Marketing Cloud.
  • Create complex, automated, multi-touch, targeted customer lifecycle digital marketing programs.
  • Identify coverage gaps in email marketing and design programs to address these gaps with the goal of increasing leads or improving database quality.
  • Establish key metrics, create review cycles, and provide insights on customer intelligence.
  • Partner with creative and campaign teams to optimize content.
  • Work with other digital marketing teams to develop cross-channel communication strategies.
  • Recommend and implement email best practices across the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Personalization, Salesforce 360, Business Technology, Sysco Labs, Sales, and Merchandising to develop tools and solutions supporting digital marketing activities.
  • Develop marketing automations using Journey Builder or Automation Studio.
  • Manage audiences, including enterprise subscriber lists, segmentation, and data extensions.
  • Measure campaign performance, analyze market trends, and monitor competitive actions to optimize marketing messages and tactics.
  • Utilize reports from Marketing Cloud, Salesforce/360, and Google Analytics to optimize and report on campaign performance.
  • Research and write compelling content for campaigns.
  • Review and edit creative content to ensure brand voice and tone consistency.
  • Provide formal and ad hoc training on digital marketing tools and techniques.
  • Offer front-line support for marketing teams on Marketing Cloud.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, in marketing, management information studies, or a related field, or equivalent business experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Email Marketing or Database Marketing.
  • Experience working with email marketing and marketing automation on Salesforce Marketing Cloud / ExactTarget.
  • Fluency in HTML to author and debug outbound emails.
  • Experience with marketing automation tools such as Journey Builder and Automation Studio.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and AMPScript.
  • Strong administrative knowledge of Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience gathering and reporting metrics on marketing effort effectiveness.
  • Experience executing digital marketing campaigns and email marketing strategies.
  • Ability to think critically and make data-driven optimization decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics or Omniture/Site Catalyst.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable with data, HTML/CSS, and marketing automation tools.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Photoshop.
  • Relate-able foodservice experience or Salesforce.com experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, management information studies, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5 years minimum experience in email or database marketing.
