Key Responsibilities

  • Design, market, and implement energy and risk management products and strategies to reduce costs, optimize assets, and mitigate risks related to PGE's resource portfolio and wholesale market activities.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support contract negotiations, competitive bidding, procurement activities, and related transactions for new energy resources.
  • Research changing market dynamics and fundamental drivers impacting fuel prices and asset availability, providing analysis and recommendations.
  • Support outbound marketing efforts by analyzing wholesale energy markets and identifying opportunities for bilateral partnerships, contracts, and asset transactions.
  • Participate in industry forums, conferences, and regulatory proceedings to represent PGE and stay informed on industry developments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or related field; MBA or MS preferred.
  • Energy Analyst: Typically two or fewer years of experience in economics, trading, financial analysis, or related field.
  • Senior Energy Analyst: Typically two or more years of experience in economics, trading, financial analysis, or related field, or highly specialized skills in a related area.
  • Working knowledge of financial concepts including options, swaps, futures, forward contracts, and asset valuation methods.
  • Financial and risk modeling skills.
  • Ability to analyze energy market conditions and trends.
  • Basic skills in negotiating contracts.
  • Strong analytical thinking, business acumen, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work long hours, adapt to variable schedules, and perform during severe weather conditions.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with marketing strategy and tactics.
  • Advanced knowledge of energy markets and trading platforms.
  • Experience participating in regulatory proceedings.

  • Educational background as specified in requirements.
  • Experience levels as specified for Analyst or Senior Analyst roles.
