About the Role

The Engineering Design Tool Specialist at Parker Aerospace is responsible for leading functional or product line teams within the Fluid Systems Division, supporting the development and provision of pneumatic flow control systems for aerospace airframes and engines. This role involves developing detailed designs, supporting technology development, new product introduction, and sustaining engineering activities. The position requires a hands-on, technically skilled leader with expertise in design and qualification of relevant aerospace products, as well as supporting engineering systems such as CAD, PDM, PLM, MBD, and MBSE.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide design support to the Engineering Department for aerospace pneumatic, fuel, and electromechanically actuated valves used in military and commercial aircraft, applying drafting skills in accordance with ANSI Y14.5 and ASME Y14.100 standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date design knowledge along with associated technical standards, practices, procedures, and training programs, and drive continuous improvement in knowledge management.
  • Manage people, processes, and activities to complete design activities on time and in compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Achieve part design-to-cost objectives and adhere to resource budgets.
  • Ensure design compliance with all requirements.
  • Monitor costs, schedules, and quality of work, and independently initiate and lead corrective and preventive actions when necessary.
  • Maintain strong internal relationships with technology development, new product introduction, and sustaining engineering organizations, as well as program management and other IPT functional team members and leaders.
  • Collaborate closely with other shared service leaders (analysis and test) within flow control engineering.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Assign, prioritize, and coordinate tasks among technical staff and external service providers to execute engineering design projects, developing and sustaining both local direct staff and offshore contracted design teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field with theoretical and practical knowledge.
  • Eight or more years of increasingly responsible related program administration or engineering experience, preferably in aerospace or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Experience working with pneumatic, fuel, and oil valves and/or actuators for aerospace applications.
  • Ability to manage small teams of engineers and designers, including coaching, developing, and training staff.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design, CAD modeling, geometric tolerancing, requirements analysis, valve assembly packaging and functionality, and applying engineering analysis results to product development.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration across organizations and with external partners.
  • Proficiency with aerospace industry development processes, such as AS9100-compliant practices.

Nice to Have

  • Training and certifications in Six Sigma (DFSS, DMAIC, etc.) and Lean methodologies (including 6S).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
  • Eight or more years of relevant program administration or engineering experience in aerospace or a regulated industry.
