Job Description

About the Role

This internship is in the Social Media Section (French), Communications Campaigns Service, Campaigns and Country Operations Division of the Department of Global Communications. The section is responsible for social media activities of the Department of Global Communications and the integration of social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, X, WhatsApp, and LinkedIn, which are critical components of the Department's communications. The internship is designed to be full-time and in-person in New York, with flexibility based on the candidate's needs and the discretion of the manager. It is an unpaid position with costs for travel, visas, and accommodation borne by the intern or their sponsoring institution, and interns must provide their own hardware, software, and internet connection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, compile, draft, and edit basic information for use in the preparation and production of social media content in French, often under tight deadlines.
  • Monitor and analyze statistics related to social media content in French.
  • Gather social media content at special events such as film screenings, concerts, and exhibits.
  • Assist in the creation of original content in French for social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Attend meetings as an observer.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Fluency in spoken and written French is required.
  • Enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher) or the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level).
  • Familiarity with or interest in taking digital photographs is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Trello, PowerPoint, and/or Adobe Photoshop (or graphic design programmes) is desirable.
  • Applicants must provide all necessary hardware (computer), software, and internet connection to perform the internship.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with and/or interest in taking digital photographs.
  • Experience with Canva, Trello, PowerPoint, and/or Adobe Photoshop or similar programmes.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme or the final year of a first university degree programme.
  • Applicants must be fluent in French.
  • Applicants must list their area of study, IT skills, and experience with relevant programmes.
