About the Role

The UTRGV Center for Innovation & Commercialization (CIC) is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant to support marketing, communications, and event promotion efforts. This position will play a key role in increasing awareness and engagement with CIC programs, events, and competitions through social media, digital content, and on-campus initiatives. The role involves supporting the CIC's marketing activities, content creation, event assistance, and administrative support to enhance the visibility and impact of CIC's programs.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and manage CIC's Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, LinkTree, and StartupTree pages.
Create engaging content, including captions, photos, videos, reels, infographics, and flyers to promote CIC activities.
Use CapCut to edit and produce short-form video content and reels.
Use Canva to design professional marketing materials (flyers, brochures, infographics, and social media graphics).
Use Loomy to schedule social media posts.
Monitor CIC social media accounts, track engagement, and respond to comments/messages.
Track and report social media engagement metrics monthly.
Create and distribute a monthly CIC newsletter.
Take photos and videos during CIC programs, events, and competitions.
Interview students, faculty, staff, entrepreneurs, community members, alumni, and other participants to gather testimonials about their CIC experience.
Create and maintain a database of videos and photos for CIC promotional use.
Draft and distribute press releases to inform the community of CIC's upcoming programs, events, and competitions.
Maintain project management updates through Monday.com.
Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of CIC and UTRGV on-campus events across the Rio Grande Valley.
Provide administrative support and assist CIC staff in the office as needed.

Requirements

Must be a current graduate student at UTRGV (enrolled in Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with social media platforms and content creation.
Experience writing press releases.
Proficiency in CapCut, Canva, and Microsoft Office.
Creativity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to attend and assist with events, including occasional evenings or weekends.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with Monday.com, a project management software.
Familiarity with Loomly, a tool for scheduling social media posts.

Qualifications

Current enrollment as a graduate student at UTRGV for Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026.
