About the Role

The Salvation Army Eastern Territory is seeking a Graphic Design and Digital Media Specialist to design and produce high-quality media for communication and marketing purposes. The role involves managing print and web media, social media engagement, website maintenance, and collaborating with staff to develop communication strategies that support the organization's mission and programs. The position requires a creative individual with strong technical skills in graphic design and digital media, who can handle sensitive issues with tact and work flexibly within a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and produce media for print and web to enhance communication with the public and supporters.
  • Research and recommend outside printing jobs, manage production schedules, and ensure quality control of print materials.
  • Develop layouts and production designs for advertisements, brochures, magazines, reports, and other materials.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Operations Executive and staff to develop communication and social media strategies.
  • Create and modify promotional print media, newsletters, and digital content including images for social media platforms.
  • Engage social media followers regularly and increase visibility for the Boston Kroc Center through platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Blog, and Hootsuite.
  • Maintain and operate digital platforms and website, ensuring attractive and professional communication.
  • Research graphics and typography for digital media, catalog and archive images, and provide graphics for promotional purposes.
  • Design layout of all collateral products and produce quarterly brochures.
  • Follow Salvation Army policies regarding graphic design standards and maintain equipment related to the role.
  • Manage production budgets, including pricing and promotional discounts.
  • Assume Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities when scheduled.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.

Requirements

  • High School Degree required; Associate degree in graphic design preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of professional graphic design and production experience.
  • Excellent computer skills with working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency with graphic design software including PageMaker, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver, After Effects, Acrobat, and Flash.
  • Ability to work and relate well with people, demonstrating diplomacy and tact.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with digital campaigns, media campaigns, and direct response mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of current trends, technologies, and methodologies in graphic and web design.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work various hours.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with social media management tools like Hootsuite.
  • Experience with website maintenance and management.
  • Knowledge of marketing strategy development.

Qualifications
