Graphic Designer and Social Media Specialist - Substitute (Pool)

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Designs and creates visually appealing graphics and photographic content for use on all social media platforms while managing the College's social media channels with daily updates, frequent monitoring, and performance analytics.
• Designs, lays out, and prepares traditional and digital pre-press camera-ready artwork for offset printing; determines the color and techniques of final products.
• Plans, designs, and produces artwork and event collateral using a variety of modern techniques and media for items such as brochures, slides, print and electronic advertisements, social media posts, charts, graphs, flyers, and posters.
• Coordinates projects with internal and external printers; creates final print-ready files to requested specifications.
• Photographs College events; maintains and archives a digital, graphic, and photo library.
• Applies computer graphics in the production of artwork including soft- and hardware management.
• Advises instructional and administrative personnel on graphic arts projects including art media and timelines.
• Prepares photographs for print and display including mounting, laminating, retouching, cropping, and scanning.
• Creates signage, banners, and backdrops using various media, styles, and sizes.
• Enhances appearance of printed materials by determining formats, typeface, type size, and related design considerations.
• Designs and develops department brand identities; creates original designs and artwork for promotional materials.
• Performs clerical and administrative responsibilities supporting department activities, including communication, mail handling, equipment maintenance, and vendor coordination.
• Performs other related duties that support the overall objectives of the position.

Requirements

• Associate degree in graphic design, social media, or related discipline.
• Two (2) years of experience in graphic design and digital marketing.
• Proficiency in graphic design, digital marketing, and social media management.
• Knowledge of current social media trends and multimedia communication styles.
• Experience with computer graphics programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and other creative software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational, project management, and record-keeping skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including proofreading and grammar.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver license.

Nice to Have

• Bachelor's degree in graphic design, social media, or related discipline.
• Three years of experience in graphic design and digital marketing.
• Experience working in a higher education environment.

Qualifications

• Degree from a country other than the United States must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service.
• Must provide transcripts and verification of prior work experience.
• Pre-employment requirements include fingerprinting, tuberculosis testing, and proof of insurability if driving is required.
