About the Role

The Health Education Media Specialist III will coordinate communication related activities for the Bureau of Health Equity and Community Engagement (BHECE) and provide guidance to Bureau staff. The role involves supporting communication efforts for evaluation and program activities, serving as a liaison between BHECE and the Public Affairs Group's Bureau of Marketing and Creative Communications (BMCC), and assisting with an in-person awardee meeting. This is a temporary, grant-funded position expected to last through May 2026, with telecommuting options and travel requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate communication related activities for the Bureau of Health Equity and Community Engagement (BHECE).
  • Provide guidance to Bureau staff on communication strategies and activities.
  • Support communication efforts for evaluation and program activities in collaboration with Bureau of Health Equity and Community Engagement Evaluation staff and Sustainability Program staff.
  • Serve as a liaison between BHECE and the Public Affairs Group's Bureau of Marketing and Creative Communications (BMCC).
  • Provide communication support for an in-person awardee meeting.
  • Perform other appropriate related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of providing health education and/or developing health promotion materials/media.
  • OR an associate degree in a related field and five years of relevant experience.
  • OR seven years of relevant experience.
  • A master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and coordinating work with different stakeholders.
  • Experience creating and implementing health communication strategies and messaging for target audiences.
  • Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables.
  • Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. (Visa sponsorship is not available).
  • Travel up to 10% may be required.
  • Reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the work location or be willing to relocate to New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts.

Nice to Have

  • At least five years of experience in public health education including experience in public health communications relevant to multiple demographics.
  • Experience with communications best practices and processes with federal and state reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and coordinating work with different stakeholders.
  • Experience creating and implementing health communication strategies and messaging for target audiences.

Qualifications

  • Educational background including a bachelor's or associate degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in health education, health promotion materials/media development, and health communication strategies.
