About the Role

The Health Services Data Analyst at Sharp Community Medical Group provides database development, technical support, reporting, and analysis to enable data-driven decision making within the medical group. The role involves maintaining data integrity, linking data from various sources, and supporting quality and utilization management activities under the direction of senior leadership. This position is a telecommuter, full-time, working primarily during daytime hours in San Diego, CA, with a focus on healthcare data analysis and management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides database development and technical support, reporting, and analysis to enable data-driven decision making.
  • Maintains the integrity of extensive spreadsheets, links data from different sources and databases, and monitors internal and external data needs.
  • Develops ad hoc and standard reports, extracts and compiles data from various sources, and summarizes reports from canned system reports.
  • Designs and builds spreadsheets and databases for team members or clients, and develops appropriate queries with documentation.
  • Automates and standardizes routine projects, develops tools for data retrieval, and maintains complex databases and spreadsheets.
  • Performs financial and clinical analyses using data from various sources.
  • Ensures documentation and data files are well-organized for easy access and review.
  • Assists with the development of new data management systems, reports, and special projects.
  • Participates in meetings, collaborates with other departments, and acts as a backup resource for the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to contribute to organizational success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, Health Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1 Year related work experience in a healthcare or managed care setting.
  • Experience with medical management systems (e.g., IDX), operating systems (e.g., Microsoft Windows), and PC-based software (e.g., Access, Excel, Word, SQL, Monarch).
  • Experience in developing and maintaining spreadsheets and databases.
  • Knowledge of data extraction tools and techniques, including Monarch.
  • Ability to organize workflow efficiently, meet deadlines, and pay attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with healthcare data, including procedure, diagnostic, and revenue coding (e.g., CPT-4, ICD-9).

Nice to Have

  • Master's Degree in health, business, computers, or related fields.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • One year of related work experience.

  • Hourly pay range from $41.44 to $65.49 based on experience and qualifications.
