About the Role

The IM Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the collaborative leadership of assigned projects involving interdisciplinary teams at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. The role includes initiating planning, execution, and completion of projects, ensuring sustainability of results, and managing multiple technology and program-related projects across various teams. The position interacts with stakeholders at all levels, including executives, operational owners, IM services, and vendors, to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, fostering teamwork and effective communication within the hospital community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall project management of assigned projects, from initiation through final completion and transition for sustainability of outcomes as directed by PMO leadership.
  • Work effectively with multiple levels of organizational staff from front line to senior leaders and executives.
  • Facilitate and manage multi-disciplinary teams assigned to various projects; assist operational owners to set goals and priorities for project.
  • Collaborate closely with operational process owners to develop and refine project plans to achieve desired outcomes including budgetary needs.
  • Maintain accurate project plans to ensure timely completion of activities, modifying timelines and expectations in collaboration with project leadership.
  • Initiate, develop, execute, and manage detailed project/work plans, schedules, estimates for resource requirements, and status reports.
  • Resolve issues and manage conflicts effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate regularly with project teams and department leadership about project progress, issues, and solutions.
  • Develop communication plans for improvement/change efforts.
  • Support department processes and protocols to ensure projects meet Information Management Department Standards.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships within the hospital community and foster teamwork among project teams.
  • Interface regularly with Senior Directors, Vice Presidents, and Executives.
  • Provide leadership support to the PMO Office and assist Project Coordinators and Project Managers.
  • Lead and participate in departmental process improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as liaison and facilitator between IM/IT department staff, vendors, and operational owners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Project management experience in the healthcare industry with 5+ years of experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex enterprise intra/interdepartmental projects.
  • Experience in large complex system implementations and managing multi-phased healthcare IT projects; experience with Epic applications is a plus.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and change management skills.
  • Effective communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and process/system thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Visio, PowerPoint; MS Project preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and articulate customer needs and guide decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to earn credibility with healthcare leaders including clinicians.
  • Ability to challenge team members to meet timelines in a team-oriented manner.
  • Experience in an Academic Medical Center is preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Project Management certification preferred.
  • Experience with Epic applications is a plus.
