Job Description

About the Role

The Industry Relations Specialist works as part of the CDL team at Columbia University School of Professional Studies to execute an employer outreach strategy. The role involves engaging industry partners, supporting career development programming, and facilitating networking opportunities for students to explore career options and develop decision-making skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops intentional, collaborative, and supportive working relationships with employers and supports day-to-day operations of employer engagement, providing a world-class customer service experience for employers, students, alumni, faculty, and other stakeholders.
  • Works actively to promote student recruitment by desirable employers through outreach to new and existing employer relationships.
  • Plans and implements programming and initiatives connecting employers and students, including employer presentations, panels, and networking events.
  • Establishes new employer contacts and strengthens current contacts through outreach activities such as cold calls, emails, and employer visits.
  • Identifies and shares featured jobs in weekly newsletters, on the CDL website, and with career coaches.
  • Assists in developing employer communication and marketing outreach collateral.
  • Supports SPS employer-focused programs and initiatives.
  • Encourages employer engagement by providing information on recruitment methods and educating employers on recruiting services.
  • Develops relationships across campus and global centers to grow student work opportunities.
  • Updates and expands employer databases, maintains a job portal, tracks employer engagement, and utilizes data to inform internship and career opportunities.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience.
  • At least 2 years of related experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with diverse constituencies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple responsibilities with short deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with changing priorities.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Human Resources, Marketing, or related field.
  • Experience working with employers in career services, HR, or recruiting settings.
  • Substantial experience with computer programs including MS Office applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, UConnect, 12 Twenty, or other database management systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience.

Benefits & Perks

  • Salary range of $69,000 - $74,000, set based on various factors including qualifications and experience.
