About the Role

McLaren Health Care is a fully integrated health network committed to quality, evidence-based patient care with locations in Michigan and Indiana. The McLaren system includes 13 hospitals in Michigan, ambulatory surgery centers, imaging centers, a primary and specialty care physician network, commercial and Medicaid HMOs, home health, infusion and hospice providers, pharmacy services, a clinical laboratory network, and a wholly owned medical malpractice insurance company. McLaren operates Michigan's largest network of cancer centers and providers, anchored by the Karmanos Cancer Institute, one of only 53 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the U.S. The company is seeking an Information Technology Project Manager to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control, and close projects related to healthcare IT systems, ensuring they meet scope, budget, and timeline requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiates, plans, executes, monitors, controls, and closes projects according to requirements and timelines, ensuring projects stay within scope and budget.
  • Assists with scoping and requirement gathering, creates and executes project schedules, and oversees quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Works with other business units and stakeholders to obtain appropriate resources for projects.
  • Manages a team and third-party contractors and/or consultants involved in projects.
  • Assesses project issues and risks, and collaborates with the project team to address these to ensure successful completion.
  • Contributes to strategic plans by providing information and recommendations, preparing action plans, and implementing standards for production, productivity, quality, and customer service.
  • Works with customers to identify and coordinate new system developments and enhancements.
  • Develops project scope of work documents and project plans, including benefit, cost, work schedule, and risk analysis.
  • Assigns, schedules, reviews, monitors, and controls project work to ensure timely and within-budget completion.
  • Mentors and provides expertise to other project team members.
  • Defines roles, reporting structures, and training requirements for project team members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six (6) years of experience in a project management role, or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field with four (4) years of project management experience.
  • Experience in healthcare or patient care environment is preferred.
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) is preferred.

Nice to Have

  • 3 years' experience in healthcare/patient care environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or related field (preferred).
  • PMP certification (preferred).
