About the Role

The MSP Project Manager plays a critical role in delivering successful IT projects to clients, ensuring they meet their objectives, are delivered on time and within budget, and result in high client satisfaction. This role requires a unique blend of technical understanding, strong project management skills, and exceptional client relationship management abilities. The Project Manager acts as the central point of contact and communication between clients, technical teams, vendors, and other stakeholders, ensuring seamless project execution and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Defining Project Goals and Scope: Collaborate with stakeholders to define clear objectives, deliverables, and project scope.
  • Planning and Scheduling: Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and schedules, outlining tasks, milestones, and resource requirements.
  • Resource Management: Allocate and manage resources (human and material) effectively to ensure project milestones are met and quality standards are maintained.
  • Budget Management: Create and manage project budgets, track expenses and adjusting as needed to stay within financial constraints.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks, analyze their potential impact, and develop mitigation strategies to proactively address challenges.
  • Communication: Maintain open and transparent communication with all stakeholders (clients, team members, upper management) to keep them informed of progress, issues, and decisions.
  • Execution and Monitoring: Supervise and coordinate project tasks, track progress against the plan, and make necessary adjustments to keep the project on track.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of project deliverables meets established standards through testing and validation processes.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain thorough project documentation, including contracts, plans, and reports, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Compliance: Ensure the project adheres to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Post-project Evaluation: Conduct evaluations after project completion to identify lessons learned and improve future project management practices.

Requirements

  • Leadership: Inspiring and motivating teams, delegating tasks, and resolving conflicts.
  • Communication: Effectively conveying information (written and verbally), facilitating meetings, and tailoring communication to different audiences.
  • Organization and Time Management: Prioritizing tasks, managing schedules, and keeping projects on track.
  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Identifying issues, analyzing situations, and making informed decisions to keep projects moving forward.
  • Risk Management: Anticipating and addressing potential threats and challenges.
  • Technical Understanding: Working knowledge of common small and medium-sized business (SMB) technologies and IT infrastructure (servers, switches, firewalls).
  • Familiarity with ticketing software (e.g., ConnectWise) and CRM/PSA tools is a plus.
  • Budget Management: Understanding financial planning, cost estimation, and expense tracking.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Adjusting to changing project requirements and unforeseen circumstances.
  • Negotiation: Effectively negotiating terms with stakeholders, vendors, and team members.
  • Critical Thinking: Analyzing information objectively to make sound judgments and decisions.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in project coordination or project management, ideally within an MSP environment.
  • Proven experience in managing IT projects.
  • Education: Associate's degree in information technology, business administration, or a related field (bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Certifications: CompTIA Project+ or other professional project management certification desired.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with ticketing software (e.g., ConnectWise) and CRM/PSA tools.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in project coordination or project management, ideally within an MSP environment.
  • Associate's degree in information technology, business administration, or a related field (bachelor's degree preferred).
  • CompTIA Project+ or other professional project management certification desired.
