About the Role

The Lead Associate, Digital Content & Search Engine Optimization (SEO) (P2) supports the organic search-focused website content strategy for Save the Children and Save the Children Action Network websites. Under the direction of the Sr. Advisor, Website Content Strategy and SEO, this role is responsible for editing, optimizing, and managing content across web properties to grow audience engagement and enhance digital presence. The position requires editorial, SEO, and digital content management experience, along with analysis, stakeholder management, and project management skills. The role is based in Fairfield, CT, with a hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, revise, update, and rewrite web content according to project instructions and brand guidelines in collaboration with the content team.
  • Understand stakeholder objectives and create supporting web content aligned with marketing, fundraising, and communications strategies.
  • Execute content publishing and updates in line with the editorial calendar and messaging priorities, coordinating with the Media & Communications team.
  • Support digital thought leadership initiatives by publishing and optimizing executive content such as blogs, op-eds, and LinkedIn posts.
  • Coordinate digital content needs for speaking engagements, conferences, and visibility opportunities, ensuring SEO best practices and audience targeting.
  • Collaborate with SEO and analytics teams to identify content opportunities based on keyword trends and search performance.
  • Contribute to scalable SEO content strategies, including landing page builds, content pillar structures, and production workflows.
  • Perform regular audits of meta information, URLs, internal linking, and other SEO best practices.
  • Use tools like Google Analytics, SEMrush, and Google Search Console to analyze web content performance and support reporting.
  • Manage, edit, and publish web content using Drupal CMS and HTML editor, and transactional content via Luminate Online.
  • Gather requirements for web production and development requests, write development requirement documents, and manage implementation through JIRA.
  • Handle ad-hoc web update requests from stakeholders and ensure timely publication.
  • Manage expectations and timing, aligning work with overall web strategy.
  • Be available and on call during emergency responses, which may include night or weekend work.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience writing, editing, or optimizing digital content for the web and familiarity with digital editorial workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems, preferably Drupal.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices, including metadata, internal linking, and content structuring.
  • Ability to interpret website performance data using tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, or SEMrush.
  • Experience managing multiple content projects with competing deadlines across cross-functional teams.
  • Support for digital publishing related to organizational thought leadership or executive communications.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and spoken and written English.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
  • Experience in the nonprofit, humanitarian, or international development sector.
  • Familiarity with Luminate Online or similar digital fundraising/e-commerce platforms.
  • Knowledge of HTML and comfort editing content in code view.
  • Experience writing development requirement documents and coordinating with developers via JIRA.
  • Ability to align digital content with brand voice, accessibility standards, and messaging frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of SEO strategy development, including content pillar/cluster architecture or topic modeling.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in digital content and SEO.
