The role of Manager, Digital Copywriter involves leading digital storytelling efforts on Okta's web properties, managing a team of writers, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to craft engaging, clear, and strategic digital content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of digital copywriters across web experiences, ensuring high-quality, cohesive, and brand-aligned storytelling.
  • Partner with Design, UX, Strategy, and Product Managers on conceptual development, ideation, and execution of digital creative briefs.
  • Collaborate with Brand Strategy, Digital Strategy, Content, Campaigns, Product Marketing, Development, SEO, Web Production, and Events to bring brand and product stories to life online.
  • Partner with the lead UX manager to develop and implement content strategies across projects.
  • Guide copywriters in working with designers to create innovative storytelling experiences.
  • Collaborate in Figma with designers to develop UX concepts through copy that is clear, engaging, and action-oriented.
  • Leverage industry knowledge and understanding of audience types to craft relevant copy for okta.com and auth0.com.
  • Establish and maintain the Okta voice and tone, guiding other writers and project owners.
  • Lead the team in telling product stories in a simple, interesting, and engaging manner.
  • Coach and mentor junior writers, providing feedback, creative direction, and professional development.
  • Ensure editorial quality through QA processes, maintaining clarity, tone, and technical accuracy.
  • Support creative ideation, feedback exchange, and the delivery of innovative digital storytelling ideas.
  • Present to executives to gain alignment and buy-in.
  • Champion storytelling excellence and push creative boundaries to differentiate the brand.

Requirements

  • BA in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field; BFA/creative writing background is a plus.
  • 10+ years of copywriting experience in a creative agency or client-side environment, including 2+ years in leadership or management.
  • Deep experience in B2B/tech, with a strong understanding of cybersecurity or developer audiences preferred.
  • Hands-on expertise in developing creative solutions for websites and digital campaigns.
  • Exceptional copywriting skills and strong knowledge of content strategy.
  • Experience in QA and attention to detail.
  • A world-class portfolio demonstrating original thinking and storytelling ability.
  • Outstanding presentation skills with experience pitching strategic ideas.
  • Ability to understand user journeys and personas through systems thinking.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects with shifting priorities.
  • Self-starter who works well in collaborative, cross-functional teams with internal partners, freelancers, and agencies.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Figma and digital design collaboration.
  • Creative background in BFA or related fields.
  • Experience in storytelling for digital campaigns and product narratives.

Qualifications

  • Educational background with a BA in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field; BFA/creative writing is a plus.
  • 10+ years of copywriting experience with leadership exposure.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing digital storytelling and copywriting excellence.
