Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all operational aspects and ensure uptime of the data center, providing technical expertise and program management for maintenance and operation of electrical, mechanical, fire life safety, security, and communications infrastructure.
  • Manage and supervise onsite vendor relationships, contracts, and site operational efficiency to ensure maximum uptime and compliance.
  • Develop and implement the Data Center Operations Program at the site, including employee training and qualification of staff.
  • Advise the Director - Data Center Operations on facility maintenance programs and equipment/system operation.
  • Ensure data center operates at maximum efficiency by analyzing conditions, recommending new technologies, and improving overall operations.
  • Maintain site physical security and ensure compliance with company, industry standards, and customer contracts.
  • Supervise and critique work performance of subcontractors and third-party contractors to ensure adherence to standards, schedules, and specifications.
  • Maintain database management of maintenance discrepancies and resolve site issues based on priorities.
  • Develop, review, and audit operational, maintenance, and emergency Methods of Procedures (MOPs) for all support equipment.
  • Lead root cause analysis for abnormal occurrences and participate in site design, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Mentor and train personnel in planning, scheduling, and completing preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining departmental budgets with a focus on cost savings.
  • Lead customer meetings to review site activities and performance.
  • Collaborate with Network Operations and Engineering teams to keep facility systems updated and maintain industry-leading standards.
  • Promote CoreSite’s Principles of Operational Excellence and uphold company culture and guiding principles.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in telecom, cabling, electrical, and mechanical support systems, including power distribution, emergency power, UPS, HVAC, fire alarm, and suppression systems.
  • Experience in managing data center operations, maintenance, and infrastructure support systems.
  • Strong management and interpersonal skills, with experience in employee training, evaluation, and coaching.
  • Ability to analyze existing operating conditions and recommend technological improvements.
  • Experience in developing and implementing maintenance standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of site security, compliance standards, and industry regulations.
  • Ability to lead root cause analysis and manage emergency response procedures.
  • Experience in managing budgets, including OPEX and CAPEX planning.
  • Completion of CoreSite’s Data Center Operations Qualification Program within the first nine months of employment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with integrated systems and IT environments.
  • Previous experience in facility design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with customer relations and conducting site tours.
