Job Description

About the Role

The role of the IT Infrastructure Project Delivery Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This individual is responsible for coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to successfully deliver projects. They will also lead the design and implementation of new portfolio and project management processes for the IT organization, driving continuous improvement in delivery practices. The position involves managing a portfolio of IT infrastructure projects, working collaboratively with stakeholders to define initiatives, understand outcomes, create plans, and ensure successful execution and realization of business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex IT projects across core infrastructure domains, including Data Center, Hosting, Cloud, Network, End User Computing, Security, Mergers & Acquisitions, Applications, and related areas.
  • Manage projects from initiation through implementation, training, and operational handoff, ensuring delivery on schedule, within scope, and budget.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including resource acquisition, task sequencing, risk management, and contingency strategies.
  • Oversee project budgets, forecasts, and cost models, ensuring financial accountability and transparency.
  • Conduct regular status reviews and communicate project progress, challenges, and successes with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Apply technical knowledge to guide infrastructure initiatives such as cloud migrations, network upgrades, data center expansions, and compliance certifications.
  • Collaborate with IT and business leaders to define project scope, goals, and success criteria.
  • Translate business requirements into clear, actionable insights for technical teams and stakeholders.
  • Design, implement, and improve project management methodologies, tools, and templates.
  • Lead adoption of capacity and demand management practices, including prioritization and chargeback models.
  • Manage and motivate cross-functional project teams and vendors, providing mentorship and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Facilitate communication across business units, IT departments, and external partners.
  • Develop and maintain project portfolios and status updates, conducting meetings and reviews.
  • Operate effectively within both Waterfall and Agile project management frameworks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; or associate degree with 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Project Manager within IT infrastructure and operations.
  • Success leading major infrastructure initiatives such as cloud migrations, network upgrades, and data center builds.
  • Strong knowledge of project management tools like MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Planner, and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
  • Experience with vendor management, including SOW development and contract oversight.
  • Certification such as PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM, PRINCE2, PgMP, or PfMP is required.
  • Available for escalations and able to work non-standard hours as needed.
  • Ability to maintain high team morale and foster collaboration across teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, create clarity, and drive results.

Nice to Have

  • Further education via an M.B.A. is considered a plus.
  • Experience developing a business case.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or associate degree with 8 years of experience.
  • Certification such as PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM, PRINCE2, PgMP, or PfMP.
