About the Role

The Manager Product Management at Alaska Airlines is responsible for leading a team of product managers to define and execute a product roadmap that enhances the travel and operational experience across platforms. The role involves developing strategic visions, collaborating with senior executives and stakeholders, and fostering a culture of high performance, innovation, and customer focus. The position supports creating an airline people love by delivering compelling products and ensuring alignment with company values and goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of product managers who determine Alaska's product vision, roadmap, strategy and plans
  • Develops a 1-3 year vision and strategy by acting as voice of the user and advocating for the user's highest needs
  • Oversees the product strategy and assists in the creation of individual product roadmaps
  • Assists in creating OKRs, KPIs and actively measures performance across a suite of products
  • Conducts competitive analysis across the airline and travel industries
  • Establishes and maintains a steering committee to ensure roadmap and features are well informed and supported by key partners
  • Provides analysis and recommendations for potential new features, optimizations, and other methods to improve the overall user experience
  • Identifies gaps in product functionality, plans future enhancements, and assigns priority
  • Monitors user feedback to prioritize product features, enhancements, and fixes
  • Actively monitors each product's metrics and builds a robust reporting suite for sharing this data
  • Communicates product status, key issues, and release plans to key constituents across the organization including management, IT, design, sales, PR, legal, airport, and customer service
  • Fosters a culture of high performance, critical thinking, great design, and vibrant collaboration
  • Builds relationships with stakeholders and manages their expectations regularly
  • Manages, trains, and mentors Product Managers
  • Selects and manages vendor relationships and their products
  • Stays current in Agile Product Management best practices and develops team members as needed

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in Product management
  • 2 years of leadership experience
  • Bachelor's degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree
  • Past success defining and launching mobile products
  • Passion for mobile app user experience and design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with diverse audiences, including both technical and non-technical customers, colleagues, and executives
  • Excellent teamwork skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of APIs and web-services architecture required
  • Familiarity with Visio, Power Point, MS Word, and Excel required
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and solve problems required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
