About the Role

The Marketing Content Specialist at California Western School of Law will serve as the primary researcher, author, and editor for a wide variety of print and communications projects across the institution. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, the role involves creating clear, compelling, and SEO-optimized content for various audiences, ensuring adherence to the brand message, and collaborating with internal stakeholders on policy, proposals, and institutional communications. The position supports the law school's marketing, outreach, and internal communication efforts to promote its programs, success stories, and industry insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and write compelling, SEO-optimized content for the law school's website, including clinic updates, student and alumni success stories, and faculty profiles, ensuring content stays current and aligned with marketing objectives.
  • Regularly update the website following the content calendar and manage all executive communications such as the dean's remarks for conferences, awards, and events.
  • Create and manage high-quality, engaging content for social media platforms, email campaigns, and other marketing materials.
  • Assist in implementing the school's communications strategy by researching, drafting, and revising print and digital content.
  • Oversee all admissions marketing content, including email copy and viewbooks, and collaborate with internal teams to produce collateral marketing materials.
  • Partner with Advancement on writing needs such as impact reports, alumni newsletters, fundraising appeals, and grant proposals.
  • Conduct extensive research to gather information for educational and institutional content, including briefs for the dean on industry trends and policies.
  • Proofread and edit content to ensure it is error-free, grammatically correct, and maintains a consistent tone and style.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and best practices to keep content relevant and impactful.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to research, synthesize, and draft policies and proposals, including new academic programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as media, communication, marketing, journalism, or similar.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a high-paced, deadline-driven content creation role with a focus on writing.
  • Experience monitoring KPIs for marketing activities and proven success in improving optimization.
  • Ability to multitask effectively and handle various matters independently with professionalism and tact.
  • Strong skills in creating and implementing assignments utilizing external vendors and internal resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to make data-driven or evidence-based decisions and stay current with marketing trends.
  • Attention to detail and high accuracy in content creation and editing.
  • Experience managing projects with outside vendors is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Three (3) years' experience in content creation with a focus on writing.
  • Experience monitoring KPIs and improving marketing optimization.
