About the Role

The Sales Manager at Marriott Burr Ridge is responsible for achieving sales and revenue goals by effectively soliciting and securing new accounts. The role involves working closely with the Director of Sales to meet the hotel's market share objectives across various segments such as Leisure, Business Travel, Group, and SMERF. The position requires proactive client engagement, market trend analysis, and maintaining strong community and industry presence to support hotel performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively attain assigned sales and revenue goals, as well as solicitation call goals.
  • Proactively conduct solicitation calls, sales tours, and entertain clients specific to Leisure, SMERF, Business Travel, and/or Groups.
  • Grow existing relationships with assigned accounts within the targeted market segments.
  • Monitor and evaluate trends within the market segment.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Develop a full working knowledge of hotel operations and policies.
  • Maintain strong visibility in the local community and industry organizations.
  • Assist in implementing or participating in special promotions such as sales blitzes.
  • Attend daily, weekly, and monthly meetings and other functions as required by management.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the General Manager or Director of Sales.
  • Access and control sensitive areas of the hotel, including back of house, safe, master keys, guestrooms, storage, and liquor room.
  • Drive safely on behalf of the company for business reasons.
  • Represent the company with good character and sound judgment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous hotel sales experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state.
  • Developed verbal and written communication skills for negotiation and influence.
  • Experience with professional selling skills such as opening, probing, supporting, and closing.
  • Proficiency in general computer knowledge, especially Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong organization and presentation skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with hotel operations and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of local community and industry organizations.
  • Experience in sales segments such as Leisure, SMERF, Business Travel, or Groups.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Previous hotel sales experience (preferred)
