MATERIALS AND RESEARCH ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE (SPECIALIST)

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Administer the Material Plant Quality Program and lead laboratory operations and testing.
• Maintain compliance with American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Resource laboratory and other accreditations.
• Lead and perform materials-related investigations and deliver reports.
• Perform CTM, AASHTO, and ASTM test methods and deliver timely test results to Resident Engineers.
• Review and complete construction forms and check calculations.
• Develop and deliver reports on materials, pavement, failure analysis, and related topics.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid driver's license when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.
• Eligibility for hire may be determined by score on the Materials and Research Engineering Associate (Specialist) exam.
• Must be on the state examination list if not currently eligible or a new applicant to state civil service employment.
• Ability to perform laboratory operations, testing, and investigations related to materials.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AASHTO, ASTM, and CTM test methods.
• Knowledge of materials testing and quality assurance programs.

• Minimum requirements as specified in the class specification for Materials and Research Engineering Associate (Specialist).
