About the Role

The New Product Development Marketing Specialist at Spectrum Brands will be responsible for managing and developing product lines within the Home & Garden division. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to drive growth, innovation, and profitability of consumer products across various brands, including Spectracide, Hot Shot, Cutter, and others. The individual is expected to demonstrate leadership potential and contribute to strategic planning, product management, and market analysis to support the company's objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in and support the annual planning process, including financial and business analysis, consumer planning, agency collaboration, and P&L development with sales and profit objectives.
  • Support in developing the overall vision for the product pipeline, development strategies, and product portfolio mix.
  • Support directing consumer research strategies and execute in partnership with Consumer Insights.
  • Assist in developing compelling stories with Sales and Consumer Insights teams for high-quality, insights-driven solutions tailored to retailer or channel needs.
  • Serve as the 'voice' for the assigned brand portfolio for all key constituencies, including sales, R&D, regulatory, operations, and finance.
  • Understand and lead product management and development from inception to discontinuance for assigned products.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop business-building ideas, working with team members to execute plans that meet investment criteria.
  • Work to gain alignment and buy-in from cross-functional partners on key initiatives.
  • Provide analysis of business performance, including shipment and consumption data, to inform strategic decisions and future planning.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and demonstrate safe work practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience with a strong track record of increasing responsibility.
  • Experience assisting in new product development from concept to market introduction.
  • Experience in developing and executing annual marketing plans, including advertising, media, and consumer promotion.
  • Experience in developing pricing strategies and managing product P&Ls.
  • Solid grasp of consumer research methodologies.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid analytical skills.
  • Teamwork approach and strong leadership qualities.
  • Passion for results and creative abilities.
  • Proficiency with traditional business software applications (MS Office, etc.).
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Maturity to train and develop subordinates.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working closely with sales and other functional departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (required)
