About the Role

Sentry is seeking a results driven and analytical individual to join our team as a Business Development Manager in Personal Lines. In this role you will be responsible for overall revenue growth of all products within your assigned region, design and coordinate the execution of Sentry's state-level personal lines strategic plans to increase premium and market share for all products, while operating within acceptable profit ranges, and develop new and alternative distribution opportunities that may utilize multiple channels. You will leverage your expert knowledge of assigned states' competitive, legal, and regulatory landscape to maximize opportunity for expanding distribution and collaborate on agent and customer experience results for Sentry's personal lines products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall revenue growth of all products within an assigned region.
  • Design and coordinate the execution of Sentry's state-level personal lines strategic plans to increase premium and market share for all products.
  • Leverage expert knowledge in the industry within assigned states, understanding market share, unique capabilities, and business profile of Sentry and other competitors.
  • Identify opportunities, through data driven decisions, to expand product risk appetite to appeal to a wider range of customers and generate profitable growth in multiple distribution channels across products.
  • Collaborate with product manager(s) on related product implementation efforts within assigned states.
  • Prepare distribution channel-specific marketing objectives, strategies, and tactics, as well as revenue projections.
  • Manage state-level policy acquisition expense budget, including agent commissions, special incentives, promotions, and input on marketing spend.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to cross functional teams to improve new business growth, customer retention, customer experience, and premium goals.
  • Work with other departments (Legal, IT, Operations, Marketing) to facilitate development of processes and workflows for alternative distribution sources.
  • Collaborate on regulatory compliance efforts.
  • Provide leadership in market research and evaluation, working with product and marketing analysts to leverage state and product level market data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Business, Finance, Mathematics, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
  • Insurance industry experience including state management, business development, or product management.
  • Superior leadership, problem solving, and analytical skills with proven ability to communicate effectively, develop relationships, and make data driven decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements of the position.

  • MBA preferred.
