About the Role

The President & CEO of the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation (MCCF) is a visionary leader responsible for advancing the mission of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives and educational success of MCCCD students. The role involves engaging with community partners, promoting educational equity, fostering innovation, and strengthening the Foundation's impact within the district and the broader community. The President & CEO will be actively involved in strategic planning, fundraising, and building collaborative relationships to support student success and community development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and articulate a long-term vision for the Foundation that aligns with MCCCD's mission and community needs.
  • Build authentic relationships with donors, corporate and industry partners, civic leaders, college presidents, and board members to foster collaboration and support.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including creating new revenue models and stewarding existing partnerships.
  • Lead the Resource Development Council and promote the Foundation's identity and impact within the community.
  • Advance fundraising efforts to meet a $20 million goal for the EmpowerED for Student Success campaign by 2026.
  • Scale and sustain programs such as the Maricopa Promise Program, providing scholarships and wraparound support for students.
  • Represent the Foundation publicly, serving as a spokesperson and advocate for its mission and initiatives.
  • Promote innovation and risk-taking to support the Foundation's growth amid economic and social changes.
  • Collaborate with district leadership and external organizations to support educational access, workforce development, and community engagement.
  • Ensure responsible fiscal management, including overseeing budgets and donor investments.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in fields such as public relations, marketing, business, non-profit leadership, or related areas.
  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in non-profit development, fundraising, or resource development programs.
  • Management and supervisory experience of at least four (4) years.
  • Proven success in securing philanthropic support from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic plans and long-range initiatives.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budget management and resource allocation.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to inspire trust and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to build consensus and work effectively with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Knowledge of higher education and foundation operations.
  • Experience advising and developing boards of directors or similar governance bodies.
  • Strong supervisory and organizational management skills.
  • Working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards relevant to nonprofit and higher education development.
  • Proficiency with office technology, fundraising databases, CRM systems, and communication tools.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a senior leadership role such as President, Executive Director, or CEO within a foundation or large nonprofit organization.
  • Demonstrated success in major gift fundraising, planned giving, and endowment growth.
  • Experience with strategic planning and organizational innovation.
  • Strong community engagement and media presence.
  • High emotional intelligence and political acumen.
  • Ability to operate with high ethics and integrity.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in non-profit development or resource management.
  • Four (4) years of management and supervisory experience.
