Job Description

About the Role

Intuit QuickBooks is on a mission to power prosperity around the world for small businesses. QuickBooks Capital provides crucial funding to help these businesses grow and thrive. We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Principal Product Manager to lead our Lending Risk capabilities for our current (Line of Credit, Term Loans) and future lending products. This is a critical, high-impact role responsible for the end-to-end product strategy and execution across the entire credit risk lifecycle - from acquisition and underwriting through portfolio management and recovery. You will be instrumental in building and managing innovative, data-driven Lending Risk capabilities that enable responsible business growth, maximize return on investment (ROI), and enhance customer satisfaction. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Credit Policy, Data Science, Operations, Business Development, and other Product Managers to define the future of risk management within QuickBooks Capital. If you are passionate about leveraging technology and data (including AI/ML) to solve complex risk challenges and empower small businesses, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Lending Risk capabilities across all QuickBooks Capital lending products. Identify, define, validate, and prioritize opportunities based on customer needs, business impact, and technical feasibility.
  • Act as the product thought leader for Lending Risk. Identify critical customer requirements, understand business goals, define the desired end-state product experience, and partner with development teams to design optimal, scalable solutions.
  • Oversee the product lifecycle for risk capabilities, including acquisition strategies to assess creditworthiness and expand eligibility, development of advanced ML models, scalable policy engines, real-time data pipelines, and automated underwriting solutions.
  • Develop capabilities for proactive risk monitoring, automated collection triggers, customer-level exposure management, and features like Credit Line Increases (CLI) for LOC.
  • Conduct in-depth customer research, usability studies, and experiments to understand lending-related customer problems and champion the customer perspective throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of risk capabilities against customer needs and business goals, using data to inform prioritization and demonstrate success.
  • Lead and collaborate effectively with Engineering, Data Science, Credit Policy, Operations, Design, Marketing, and other partners to ensure successful discovery, development, launch, and iteration of risk products and features.
  • Drive the product roadmap from minimum viable product (MVP) to significant scale, managing trade-offs and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality capabilities.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product management experience, specifically designing and delivering lending products, ideally within the FinTech or financial services industry with 5+ years in Product Management within the credit risk/lending domain.
  • Deep understanding of the credit risk domain across the full lending lifecycle: acquisition, underwriting, portfolio management, collections/recovery.
  • Familiarity with modern risk assessment techniques, including the application of AI/ML for decision-making.
  • Proven experience in defining product vision and strategy, translating them into actionable product roadmaps, and influencing long-term direction.
  • A strong track record of working closely with customers and partners, employing deep empathy, listening skills, and a customer-focused approach.
  • Proficiency in managing complex program/project deliverables involving multiple teams, dependencies, and timelines.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to lead execution across diverse teams and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate vision, strategy, and results effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • BS or technical degree preferred, or equivalent relevant work experience.
