About the Role

We don't just sell cutting-edge fashion and accessories, we create it. Our talented fashion design team - the Nordstrom Product Group (NPG) - develops, designs, produces and sources Nordstrom label products. From traditional to trendy, this team is shaping the styles and looks our customer love. The company offers a hybrid role in the Seattle, WA area, requiring a minimum of 3 days/week in the office at the Nordstrom Seattle location. The role involves leading the product development team within the NPG, managing cross-functional relationships, and supporting sourcing and quality processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor teams through product development cycle and calendar milestones, ensuring deadlines, costing KPIs, and quality standards are met.
  • Support the team in balancing workload across categories, encouraging solutions, and removing barriers to enable optimal performance.
  • Be a servant leader that attracts, retains, and develops talent through continuous mentoring and shared values.
  • Establish strong working relationships with cross-functional teams and leaders, keeping the customer at the forefront of all decisions.
  • Identify process improvement needs, encouraging and supporting team-led problem solving.
  • Lead the product development team through the execution of sourcing strategies.
  • Support and lead the team in resolving quality issues post-production.
  • Track product development milestones and calendar due dates, including pre-production tracking and reporting (prototype, color, sample yardage, testing, etc.).
  • Support, coach, and mentor teams in vendor negotiations throughout the product lifecycle, including costing, timing, minimums, etc.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing and CSR leaders to ensure the source base meets development and production capability needs and aligns with company goals.
  • Support the PD team in achieving standards for costing rollups and develop specified costing targets to meet IMU goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years of leadership experience in product development within garment manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Textile, Fashion Merchandising, Design, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing, developing, and supporting large and diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong problem solving, negotiating skills, and out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Owner at heart with highly developed quantitative skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Illustrator, Word, Tableau, Flex PLM.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the U.S., Asia, South America, and Europe.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a fast-paced fashion or apparel environment.
  • Knowledge of sourcing strategies and supply chain management.

Qualifications
