Job Description

About the Role

The Product Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development, execution, and lifecycle management of a variety of industrial check valve products, including elastomer-hinge, wafer style dual disc, single disc, axial flow wafer check valves, silent check valves, and medical ball and check valves. This is a remote position, but up to 25% travel is required for customer visits, trade show attendance, and collaborating with internal teams located in Maryland, North Carolina, Michigan, and New Jersey. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the role involves defining product strategy, driving innovation, leading portfolio simplification efforts, contributing to strategic planning, and ensuring product competitiveness and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy for the full portfolio of check valve products (elastomer-hinge, dual disc, single disc, axial flow wafer, silent check valves, medical ball, and check valves).
  • Define clear product roadmaps and drive initiatives from concept to commercialization, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Analyze market needs and customer feedback to identify new product opportunities and improve existing products under the US Valve, Champion Valve, and Technocheck brands.
  • Actively contribute to US Valve's overall strategic planning process, including the development of the company's 3-5 year strategic outlook and annual business plans.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define long-term growth initiatives, market opportunities, and product expansion strategies across all valve product categories.
  • Lead the implementation of the 80/20 strategy across the product portfolio to simplify the range of check valves and eliminate low-value products.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline product offerings, reduce SKU complexity, and focus resources on high-impact, high-margin products.
  • Work closely with engineering, R&D, and manufacturing teams to drive the development of new products and ensure product specifications meet industry and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to develop product requirements, timelines, and milestones.
  • Oversee product testing, quality assurance, and certification processes, especially for critical sectors like medical and industrial applications.
  • Conduct in-depth market research to stay ahead of industry trends, customer preferences, and competitor offerings for the check valve market.
  • Engage with customers (both existing and potential) to understand their needs, challenges, and product requirements across various markets.
  • Translate customer feedback into actionable product improvements and innovations.
  • Develop and manage product pricing strategies for all product lines, ensuring alignment with market conditions, competitive positioning, and internal profitability targets.
  • Work with the finance and sales teams to determine optimal pricing for new products and adjust pricing for existing products.
  • Evaluate the profitability of product lines and recommend pricing strategies to improve overall profitability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Product Management, Business, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, preferably in the manufacturing or industrial sectors (experience in valves, pumps, or fluid controls is highly desirable).
  • Proven success in 80/20 simplification, pricing strategy, and VOC-driven development.
  • Experience in strategic planning and contributing to long-term company growth strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading new product development through milestone-driven processes, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery.
  • Solid understanding of pricing strategies, market positioning, and profitability analysis.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Wrike, and JD Edwards (or similar ERP).
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for customer visits, trade shows, and internal team collaborations.

Nice to Have

  • MBA or advanced degree in a related field.
  • Experience in valves, pumps, or fluid control industries.
  • Experience with regulatory standards and certifications relevant to industrial and medical products.

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
  • The best of both worlds: the agility and innovation of a smaller company combined with the financial support and strategic backing of a large, publicly traded corporation.
  • Total compensation range: $107,100.00 - $160,700.00, with potential performance-based bonus.
  • Health benefits, 401(k) with company match, PTO, and more.
