About the Role

Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity's most useful inventions. At Google DeepMind, we're a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority. The role involves defining and building core conversational capabilities with AI, leading product vision, go-to-market efforts, and working cross-functionally with research teams to integrate cutting-edge AI technologies amidst a rapidly evolving landscape. The position offers the opportunity to make a profound impact by creating AI experiences that understand and support individual user needs, shaping the future of human-AI interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive a clear product vision for the conversational capabilities of Gemini App, creating and evangelizing a roadmap and strategic plan for extending foundation model capabilities and integrating emerging AI technologies.
  • Develop and prioritize product requirements by synthesizing user feedback, UX research, AI model performance metrics, market trends, and competitive analysis, while clarifying ambiguities related to AI's evolving nature.
  • Lead and influence cross-functional teams (Research, Engineering, Design, Legal, etc.) to implement and launch innovative features, effectively bridging AI's technical complexity with user needs through clear communication and strategic narratives.
  • Own and drive go-to-market strategies for new AI features and products, including strategic positioning, market understanding, and impactful messaging to ensure successful launches and sustained relevance.
  • Drive rapid prototyping cycles, gather targeted user feedback, and iteratively refine AI products to respond swiftly to technical breakthroughs.
  • Lead innovative product development amidst foundational uncertainty, enabling strategic pivots and responsive decision-making in a rapidly changing AI and market landscape.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in product management or related technical role.
  • 5 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch.
  • Demonstrable, extensive technical knowledge and hands-on product experience with advanced AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), and familiarity with Diffusion Models or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
  • Proven ability to understand and predict emerging AI model capabilities and collaborate with highly technical teams.
  • Experience designing, managing, and refining evaluation methods and success metrics for AI models and AI-powered products.
  • Ability to drive complex product initiatives forward in ambiguous and rapidly evolving AI contexts, clarifying uncertainties and generating insights from model behaviors.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with research, engineering, UX/UI, legal, marketing, and other stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to prepare and deliver compelling technical presentations to senior leadership.

Nice to Have

  • Strong aptitude for understanding user perspectives for novel AI products, identifying pain points, and translating insights into intuitive AI experiences.
  • Hands-on experience in software development or engineering with a strong understanding of technical concepts.
  • Success as a self-starter and fostering a culture of innovation.
  • Experience proactively identifying ethical risks in AI systems, familiarity with adversarial analysis, or embedding safety protocols in AI product development.

Qualifications

  • Educational background including a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Benefits & Perks

  • The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $227,000 - $320,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
