About the Role

The Product Manager for Optics within Cisco's Transceiver Module Group (TMGBU) is responsible for managing Cisco's pluggable optics portfolio, which includes a broad range of optical technologies and applications such as AI. The role involves overseeing the entire product lifecycle, from market exploration and requirements definition to go-to-market strategies, product transition, and end-of-sale phases. The team focuses on building the future of connectivity for switches, routers, and servers, emphasizing innovation and market leadership in high-speed optical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage optical transceiver products throughout their lifecycle, including market exploration, requirements definition, development, go-to-market, transition, and end-of-sale phases.
  • Drive adoption and set commercial aspects of high-speed optics used in AI applications by being a data-driven and business-oriented leader.
  • Manage growth, pricing, promotions, and marketing collateral for optical products.
  • Track optical opportunities and develop joint initiatives with host-platforms such as Cisco switches, routers, and servers to promote Cisco high-speed optics with customers.
  • Develop product roadmaps and collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing operations, procurement, and supply chain to bring products to market.
  • Manage new product introductions, transitions, forecasts, and P&L responsibilities.
  • Create partnerships with host-platform teams, sales specialists, and account teams to socialize and promote the product portfolio.
  • Participate in training webinars, blogs, whitepapers, and trade shows to articulate value propositions and competitive advantages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 11+ years of product management experience, or a master's degree with 8+ years of experience.
  • Experience managing multiple issues and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Experience with high-speed pluggable optics, including form factors, compatibility, IEEE standards, optical interoperability, fiber types, connectors, data rates, modulation formats, bit error ratio, forward error correction, and protocols such as Ethernet and Infiniband.
  • Strong technical understanding of network applications and architectures such as GPU clusters, data centers, service provider networks, and campus networks.
  • Ability to build relationships with peers, partners, and customers.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with stakeholders and articulate complex issues clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills to break down problems into manageable parts.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of critical components of pluggable optics such as DSPs, lasers, laser drivers, and TIAs.
  • Ability to build relationships with peers, partners, and customers.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills to break a problem into smaller solvable pieces.
