About the Role

The Product Manager - Unsecured Consumer Lending at BMO Financial Group is responsible for developing and implementing strategies with profit and loss accountability to enable the salesforce to effectively sell, fulfill, and service unsecured lending products such as personal loans, lines of credit, and overdraft products. The role involves market research, forecasting, pricing, marketing, competitive analysis, monitoring product performance, managing risks, collaborating with internal partners, and supporting strategic initiatives to optimize product profitability and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements strategies with P&L accountability to enable effective sales, fulfillment, and servicing of unsecured lending products.
  • Carries out market research, forecasting, pricing, marketing, and competitive analysis.
  • Monitors product performance, assesses problems, and develops solutions to optimize profitability and customer experience.
  • Manages product risks in collaboration with compliance, fraud, legal, regulatory, and risk stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with internal partners across the enterprise to bring unsecured products to market profitably.
  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards to inform decision-making.
  • Supports the execution of strategic initiatives and change management activities.
  • Develops business cases, strategic roadmaps, and manages product lifecycle from design to enhancement.
  • Supports vendor relationship management and external partnerships.
  • Resolves internal and customer escalations, including policy exceptions and complex issues.
  • Conducts competitive analysis, benchmarking, and customer insights analysis to identify strengths and gaps.
  • Prepares internal and regulatory reports and develops risk management controls.
  • Creates marketing strategies, including offers and campaigns, and manages product documentation.
  • Works with partners to develop salesforce training and supports client deal development.

Requirements

  • Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong experience with unsecured consumer credit applicable to retail and business financing products.
  • Deep knowledge of product design, functionality, marketing, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of retail and business banking environments and risk management.
  • Knowledge of product delivery infrastructure systems and industry/regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in building business cases, analytics, market research, and relationship management.
  • Good negotiation skills and software/system architecture knowledge.
  • In-depth verbal and written communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, handle non-routine situations, and exercise judgment within rules.

Nice to Have

  • In-depth knowledge of banking product management and associated industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with risk management, process coordination, and management.
  • Experience in developing salesforce training and client deal support.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
