Job Description

About the Role

The Product Specialist is responsible for delivering a high-quality user experience for the university's global enterprise academic applications. They gather requirements, advise on the design and development of new features, collaborate with developers and vendors to implement new functionality and UX enhancements, operate within an Agile development cycle, conduct user experience and functionality testing, serve as the product's subject matter expert for various IT projects and governance committees, and provide essential day-to-day application-level support at New York University.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements and advise on the design and development of new features for academic applications.
  • Collaborate with developers and vendors to implement new functionality and UX enhancements.
  • Conduct user experience and functionality testing within an Agile development cycle.
  • Serve as the product's subject matter expert for various IT projects and governance committees.
  • Provide essential day-to-day application-level support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Specialist, Product Owner, or Technical Analyst within a technology or software development environment for user-facing application services.
  • Experience with UX testing or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • UX testing experience.
  • Basic HTML and CSS knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in gathering, analyzing, and documenting product requirements and user stories.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • 3+ years of experience with Explorance Blue, Anthology Engage, PeopleGrove.
  • Experience working in an academic environment.
  • Experience providing Level 2 customer support or technical training.
  • Experience configuring enterprise-level software.
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field, Software User Experience, or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in relevant fields.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a related role.

Benefits & Perks

  • Annual base salary range of USD $95,000.00 to USD $115,000.00, in compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act.
  • Consideration of factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, internal peer equity, market, and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
  • Additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items are excluded from the base pay range.
