About the Role

Microsoft AI's ("MAI") Mission is to use AI responsibly to make everyone more informed, capable, and supported. MAI is responsible for Microsoft's consumer propositions including Copilot, Bing, MSN, Microsoft Advertising, and Edge, as well as developing proprietary foundational AI models. MAI works closely with a variety of teams across Microsoft and across the full AI stack to deliver on Microsoft's AI ambitions. Within MAI, the Monetization team focuses on both direct (paid directly by a customer) and non-transparent (paid by a third party) models of revenue generation across Microsoft properties. The Product Strategist role involves serving as a trusted advisor, analyzing markets and trends, and supporting strategic decision-making within the Monetization team, which operates as thought partners with Product Managers to determine long-term strategies for product vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a primary thought partner for Product Management leadership in building the future of the monetization business.
  • Represent your portfolio of products/features and explain how it fits into larger Monetization/MAI/Microsoft priorities.
  • Contribute to large strategy projects and define/manage smaller projects with guidance as needed.
  • Communicate and advocate insights to senior business leaders.
  • Conduct market-based research and analyses, creating initial framing for strategic questions with limited input.
  • Synthesize findings into insights across projects and develop recommendations and ideas around potential growth opportunities.
  • Convey viewpoints through written documents and influence models through moderate iterations, build end-to-end storylines, and deliver project findings and recommendations to senior executives.
  • Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders, keeping informed of changes in team strategies and external trends.
  • Act as an advisor to senior leadership on a specific area of expertise to inform strategic business decisions.

Requirements

  • Proven track record and strong skills in business strategy, communications, and internal stakeholder management.
  • Ability to anticipate and respond quickly to new opportunities and partner situations.
  • Experience in analyzing markets, emerging trends, and strategic initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills to explain product portfolios and influence senior leaders.
  • Ability to synthesize research findings into actionable insights and recommendations.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working closely with Product Managers and senior leadership.
  • Knowledge of monetization models and revenue strategies within technology companies.
