The Project Controls Specialist supports projects from detailed design engineering through to project completion within the Alliance Program, working closely with various departments to ensure effective project management and continuous performance improvement. The preferred work location is Findlay, Ohio, with consideration for Texas City, Texas, and relocation assistance provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide project controls expertise relating the integration, controls and management of projects, including project planning and scheduling, manpower planning, cost control and risk management.
  • Develop and monitor, with the project team, project execution strategy and tactical plans to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness for individual projects with the Alliance Program.
  • Implement project controls guidelines and procedures to organize and schedule project work, taking account of time and resource constraints.
  • Apply cost control and other analytical techniques to quantify financial and schedule performance and forecast projections via EVM (Earned Value Methodology).
  • Provide through project controls, an accountability/audit trail of major project decisions, to minimize company commercial risk.
  • Provide project controls input for contractor selection, including pre-qualification assessment, bid inquiry development, bid evaluation, and contract award recommendations.
  • Monitor and report on contractor progress and performance.
  • Develop customized project management systems, applications and tools, as required, to meet specific project needs.
  • Implement the overall project risk management process including risk identification and mitigation.
  • Responsible for change management and contingency control.
  • Develop and/or analyze reports to depict current project status and direction to help achieve project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent project controls experience.
  • Five years' experience in industrial, refining, or petrochemical major project controls and has worked as an owner's representative.
  • Relevant experience working in an EPC environment.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Works well in teams.
  • Is a great communicator (verbal and written).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products - Teams, Excel (Advanced skills), PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
  • Dependent upon work location, day & overnight travel of up to 20%.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with SAP.
  • Experience with MS Project or Primavera.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in project controls within industrial, refining, or petrochemical projects.
