About the Role

The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences at the University of Southern California is seeking a dependable, flexible, and detail-oriented Project Manager to join the research team at the Center for Translational Exposomics Research (CTER). The role involves managing multiple studies focused on PFAS contamination and its impacts on environment and human health, requiring high-level strategic collaboration across disciplines to advance interdisciplinary research. The position includes coordinating project implementation, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing reporting, and supporting investigators with grant and budget management in a dynamic research environment founded in 2021.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing all aspects of project implementation, including coordinating research activities, data collection, analysis, and dissemination efforts to align with study goals and federal guidelines.
  • Overseeing regulatory compliance tasks such as managing Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, renewals, and amendments.
  • Preparing and submitting required reports, including annual Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs), sponsor updates, and progress summaries.
  • Supporting investigators with grant and budget management, tracking project milestones, and facilitating communication across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Managing data use agreements and ensuring adherence to protocols.
  • Collaborating with engineering and other experts to integrate diverse expertise and drive research forward.
  • Leading community engagement activities and coordinating outreach and recruitment of research participants.
  • Supervising and mentoring research staff, graduate students, and administrative personnel.
  • Facilitating meetings, workshops, and stakeholder collaborations.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in public health, environmental policy, sustainability, social science, or a related field with knowledge of PFAS or chemical exposure impacts.
  • Prior experience managing research projects in an academic or public health setting.
  • Experience with federal grant proposal writing and submission processes.
  • Strong knowledge of reporting requirements such as RPPRs, annual reports, and sponsor updates.
  • Proven ability to manage complex project timelines, budgets, and deliverables across multiple grants.
  • Experience overseeing administrative aspects of research studies, including IRB submissions, renewals, and amendments.
  • Skilled in supervising and mentoring research staff and administrative personnel.
  • Experience coordinating outreach and recruitment of research participants.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, including translating technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience or combined education/experience as a substitute.
  • Directly related education and project administration experience in the specialized field.

Benefits & Perks

  • Annual base salary range of $94,888.81 - $105,000.
