The role involves leading cross-functional project teams to develop and transfer new products and processes within Cable Technology, following structured project management practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership of complex projects within Cable Technology, responsible for cost, schedule, and technical performance of new product/process innovation development and transfers.
  • Maintain communication and develop strong relationships with project teams and stakeholders, including setting meeting schedules, providing updates, and presenting in formal project update meetings.
  • Utilize steering team effectively for key decisions and support.
  • Define competencies required for project teams, monitor resource gaps, and address them proactively.
  • Draw expertise from team members and the technical, commercial, and manufacturing network to solve problems and drive project progress.
  • Document project goals, objectives, Plan of Record, team meeting minutes, formal decisions, and milestones on the SharePoint IPP project site.
  • Follow the State Gate process for project management and use program management best practices, including Solution Progression Strategy and Risk Assessments.
  • Pursue patents for new products and technologies, ensuring IP protection.
  • Manage team performance to meet project requirements, build consensus on goals and accountability.
  • Develop criteria for prioritizing work tasks, focusing on activities with the highest business potential and impact.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • 5+ years in a Product Development environment leading cross-functional workstreams requiring strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with transfer of new products into manufacturing and understanding of departmental needs.
  • Thorough understanding of Project Management practices, principles, and tools for product development projects.
  • Proven technical aptitude with ability to analyze data, ask the right questions, and discern technical approaches.
  • Skilled at negotiation and influence, guiding steering teams toward consensus.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively across organizational levels.
  • Ability to motivate and guide others who are not direct reports to achieve project objectives.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge & experience with Optical Fiber / Cable process development or manufacturing.
  • Understanding of Ribboning, Stranding, and Extrusion Processes.
  • Experience in optical communications and manufacturing environments, with ability to engage in technical discussions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project, Teams).
  • Experience with written and oral technical reports.
  • Understanding of risk analysis tools (FMEA) and decision-making processes (KT).
  • Proficient in DMAIC and MEE methodologies for problem solving.
  • Experience with statistical software such as Minitab or JMP.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, self-starter, and motivated.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years in product development with cross-functional leadership experience.

  • Range for this position is $155,994.00 - $214,493.00, with starting pay dependent on experience and location.
