About the Role

The Project Manager will be responsible for general project management tasks within ALS, a global leader in scientific testing. The role involves overseeing project activities, ensuring safety and compliance, and supporting client interactions to deliver high-quality testing solutions that contribute to a safer, healthier world. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with appropriate method selection and offer technical guidance.
  • Prepare project specific reports.
  • Represent ALS at all project meetings.
  • Prioritize and monitor projects.
  • Conduct day-to-day client communication.
  • Coordinate project sampling duties.
  • Follow all company operating procedures, standards, policies, and training to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the site.
  • Play an active role in the ALS safety program by correcting or reporting unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Participate in and support HSE initiatives as required by ALS leadership.
  • Understand and use HSE precautions while working with chemicals and samples of unknown hazards.
  • Ensure the health and safety of staff, contractors, and visitors by providing leadership, resources, training, and enforcement.
  • Monitor and enforce health, safety, and environment policies and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Actively promote awareness of safety policies and procedures among personnel.
  • Support and participate in all OHS initiatives and lead by example.
  • Report all personal injuries and incidents and assist with investigations.
  • Ensure company sites adhere to environmental requirements as per legislation, regulation, and policy.

Requirements

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to initiate corrective action without prompting and assist co-workers to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform duties under pressure from large sample volumes and short turn-around times.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use (or learn to use) Laboratory Information Management System.
  • Adheres to safety policies and practices.
  • Must be able to work on a computer while sitting for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier loads with assistance.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, push, pull, stoop, and crouch up to 50% of the time.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred).
  • 5+ years of laboratory experience (preferred).
  • 0-5 years of project management experience (preferred).
