Project Manager - HITRUST

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the HITRUST certification project by ensuring rigorous control of scope, schedule, risks, and costs associated with meeting HITRUST requirements.
• Provide clear guidance and coordination of all aspects of the project goals while managing issues on a complex project.
• Coordinate with third-party assessor organizations and HITRUST to ensure proper vetting of requirements, gap analysis, and mitigation activities.
• Establish HITRUST Domain Control Gap Analysis, Remediation, Testing/Evidence Collection, and Corrective Action phases.
• Work with internal teams, clients, and third-party assessors professionally in all matters related to the certification effort.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA, ISO, and maintain operational continuity throughout project phases.
• Develop and track project timelines, budgets, risks, and deliverables, providing updates to leadership and stakeholders.

Requirements

• 8+ years of project management experience, with 4+ years in healthcare/hospital IT environments.
• Hands-on experience delivering Security/Privacy projects, especially HITRUST, ITSM, HRSD, or ISO.
• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Information Systems, or related field.
• At least 8-10 years of previous project management experience leading high-visibility certification projects.
• Experience leading programs with HITRUST, ISO 27001, or similar compliance frameworks.
• Involvement with SOC 1/SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO, or privacy compliance assessments and audits.
• Understanding of applying QMS, Requirements Management, Change Control, and Risk Management in a regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of records management, policies and procedures, clinical operations, and healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage remote, cross-functional teams and vendor relationships.

Nice to Have

• Experience with SOC 1/SOC 2 audits.
• Experience with healthcare compliance standards beyond HITRUST, such as HIPAA and ISO.
