About the Role

Join Haskell's dynamic Construction & Manufacturing Team as a Project Manager I and embark on a career journey focused on managing design/build, construction management, or construct-only projects from assignment through completion. The role involves overseeing all construction activities on assigned projects, promoting innovation, skill development, and providing the tools and support needed to excel in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Directors in responding to RFPs, including preparing estimates, schedules, and proposal documents; participate in client presentations.
  • Monitor the progress of design documents and participate in design review meetings, providing input on constructability, scope, and cost changes.
  • Prepare detailed estimates, cost code input, and cost control systems.
  • Prepare bid packages, analyze bids, qualify subcontractors, and award subcontracts and major purchase orders.
  • Establish job organization with construction personnel, plan, sequence, and schedule projects; manage the project schedule and conduct job site meetings.
  • Ensure project cost control by updating labor cost reports, summary cost reports, and project status summaries.
  • Coordinate permits, inspections, and final project approvals with governing authorities.
  • Maintain submittal control and manage client relations, progress meetings, reports, change orders, and responses to inquiries.
  • Maximize project cash flow through invoicing and collections; manage subcontractor and supplier performance, including payments and documentation.
  • Review and monitor project progress, quality, and safety; mentor construction personnel and manage project close-out tasks and warranty work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent plus three years minimum in construction management.
  • Expertise in managing resources, including budgets, schedules, and materials in an environment of multiple, competing demands.
  • Knowledge of estimating, construction methods, engineering, equipment, and technology.
  • Excellent understanding of safety procedures.
  • Excellent organizational, supervisory, communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to travel per project requirements.
  • Ability to understand and execute the company vision and values of Team, Excellence, Service, and Trust.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with managing design/build or construction projects.
  • Familiarity with permits, inspections, and final project approvals processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years in construction management.
