The Project Manager II role involves performing project management responsibilities on small low-risk engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM) projects or segments of larger projects, ensuring safety, quality, timeliness, and profitability, and supporting project coordination and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify with Project Director that Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) is emphasized throughout all phases of the project
  • Review the Fluor contract and any relevant subcontracts
  • Collaborate in the preparation of the documents associated with the execution of all aspects of the project in accordance with contractual obligations, Fluor's Operating System Requirements (OSR) and the relevant Operating System Implementation Plan (OSIP)
  • Prepare draft for PD approval of the project baseline and ensure that it is fully documented, updated throughout all project phases, and communicated to the Fluor project team
  • Support the PD to deliver the project in accordance with the project execution and commercial baselines
  • Participate in Fluor University courses for continued learning experiences
  • Utilize Knowledge Management processes to support and leverage relevant knowledge to enhance project execution
  • Support the projects by providing an environment for the development and professional advancement of project personnel, including providing on-the-job and formal training and development opportunities
  • Participate in sales and marketing efforts as requested

Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and seven (7) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal eleven (11) years if non-degreed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Participation in Fluor University courses for continued learning
  • Knowledge of project management principles and processes
  • Experience with project design, engineering, procurement, material management, construction, commissioning, start-up, and turnover work processes
  • Understanding of project controls including scheduling, progress measurement, risk assessment, change management, and cost control
  • Proactive, goal-oriented, and able to resolve problems in complex environments
  • Ability to set and maintain high standards of performance and accountability
  • Mobility to relocate to site locations when necessary
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) is suggested

Nice to Have

  • Jobsite experience and understanding of construction safety program
  • Five (5) years of experience as Project Engineer or Specialist, or a project role of significant capacity such as Project Controls Lead, Contracts Lead, etc.
  • Three (3) years experience as a design or construction engineer on projects
  • Project or area management experience in international locations and diverse cultural environments
  • Demonstration of successful performance as a Project Manager on small jobs or as an assistant Project Manager on medium-sized projects
  • Completed all required in-house project management courses and courses from university or other qualified sources
  • Good knowledge of project design, engineering, procurement, material management, construction, commissioning, start-up, and interface processes
  • Experience with project controls including scheduling, risk management, cost estimation, and reporting
  • Understanding of contract law, regulatory requirements, and project funding

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree or equivalent in applicable field
  • Relevant work experience as specified in requirements
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is suggested
