About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Delivers results for mid to large-size project initiatives within established timeframes and quality measures.
• Utilizes strong project management skills and the corporate standard system development methodology (or other industry methodology) to manage assigned projects.
• Directs resources on assigned projects and ensures clarity of project roles and responsibilities.
• Identifies project stakeholders and manages communication with them.
• Consults with business leaders to translate a project idea into a defined project with goals, objectives, and scope.
• Identifies resources needed, negotiates with people managers, and leads project teams to ensure project plans are completed within defined timeframes, meeting objectives and strategic goals.
• Develops and implements communication and reporting mechanisms to manage issues, risks, and timely delivery of results.
• Ensures business needs and objectives are effectively captured in functional and non-functional requirements for systems or processes.
• Oversees business requirements to meet expected solutions and traces delivery through testing and final implementation.
• Manages project quality through reviews, approvals, and corrective actions.
• Ensures project documentation is complete, current, and Knowledge Managed.
• Establishes and maintains cooperative partnerships on current project deliverables.
• Promotes the benefits of change and acts as a catalyst for change within the organization.
• Organizes and guides project team activities, prioritizes tasks, and ensures efficient use of team members' time and experience.
• Shares project experience and mentors others to build project management skills.

Requirements

• Any combination of education or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree with five years of project management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of the corporate methodology and awareness of other methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of logical data model/management.
• Strong ability to work effectively in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
• Effectively uses technical project management tools.
• Strong negotiation skills with business and IT partners.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong conflict resolution, facilitation, and elicitation skills.
• Strong consultative advisory skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced PC skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).

Nice to Have

• Strong understanding of Unum's products and businesses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Five years of project management experience.
