About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Agilist with a solid track record of empowering and leveling up successful teams. The role involves coaching teams in Agile practices, facilitating effective team events, and improving Lean flow within a dynamic, transitional environment. The position is on-site in the greater Seattle, WA area, with specific locations including Downtown Seattle, Federal Way, Lynnwood, and Bellevue (Factoria).

Key Responsibilities

  • Coaches the team in adapting the core values, principles, and practices of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Scrum, and the Agile Manifesto to their current context.
  • Facilitates the team's effective self-organization to deliver quality software with predictability and efficiency, collaborating with management to ensure appropriate staffing and responsibilities.
  • Keeps the team organized and focused on Iteration and PI Objectives.
  • Ensures the effectiveness of team events such as the daily Scrum, iteration planning, iteration review, and iteration retrospective.
  • Collects and provides team metrics such as velocity, throughput, cycle time, DORA metrics, and provides periodic reports to auditors and program managers.
  • Uses metrics and retrospectives to help the team reflect on performance, identify improvements, and take sustainable actions.
  • Monitors sprint work closely, managing dependencies and prioritization.
  • Assists the team in removing blockers and acts independently as an advocate to unblock the team if necessary.
  • Works with the team to refine and improve Lean flow, including value stream mapping and CI/CD practices.
  • Identifies areas for Lean flow improvement through automation and collaborates or creates automation to enhance team throughput and velocity.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as Scrum Master of a software development team.
  • Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Scrum.org PSM I, or SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) certification.
  • Strong communication and facilitation capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps work tracking features.
  • Assertive personality, action- and outcome-driven mentality.
  • Ability to actively inspire, coach, mentor, and motivate.
  • Well-organized with a keen attention to detail.
  • Personal and professional alignment with Expeditors Culture Elements and Ten Critical Success Factors.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information science, information technology, management information systems, or a related STEM field.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, SAFe RTE, Agile Coach, or similar role (5+ years with master's degree).
  • Advanced certifications such as A-CSM, CSP-SM, PSM II or III, SAFe Advanced Scrum Master, RTE, SPC, or ICAgile ICP-ACC.
  • Prior experience as a software development team member.
  • Familiarity with Java, COBOL, Python, Flask, Ansible, and/or Cucumber.
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions and/or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Familiarity with the Azure DevOps REST API, Microsoft Graph API, and related Python libraries.
