About the Role

This role at Baxter involves leading initiatives related to smart pump platform implementation, connectivity, interoperability, and digital health solutions within the Medical Products Technology and Innovation PMO. The Project Manager will coordinate change efforts to enhance customer service and advance Baxter's digital strategy, working at the intersection of medical devices, connectivity, and interoperability. The position is crucial within Baxter's Digital Platforms and Innovation organization and reports to the Associate Director of Medical Products Technology PMO. The role can be based across the West Coast, preferably California, and focuses on delivering innovative healthcare solutions that save and sustain lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing, leading and implementing projects across the US related to Smart Pump Implementation and EMR Interoperability
  • Bringing together and analyzing business requirements to implement multi-platform hardware and software interoperability at healthcare institutions
  • Leading multiple projects concurrently, including projects related to Baxter's product roadmap by partnering with the interoperability engineering team for customer critical issues
  • Developing roadmaps and project plans and presenting progress and challenges to senior leadership
  • Leading user acceptance testing and launch readiness with customers, EMR vendors, and other partners
  • Identifying and mitigating potential project risks and resolving issues using analytical, technical, and managerial skills
  • Collaborating with Global Services to define the transition from project go-live to sustaining support, including critical issue pathways
  • Partnering with customers, EMR, and middleware vendors to interface medical devices using HL7 specifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, clinical Informatics, IT (Information Technology), or engineering disciplines preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of project Management or healthcare information technology (HCIT) experience in the medical device industry
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or Agile SAFe certification preferred
  • Demonstrated ability with electronic medical record (EMR) applications and/or clinical data sets with proficiency with IHE profiles, HL7, and FHIR standards
  • Proven understanding across the full project lifecycle (discovery, requirements definition, design, build, testing, deployment)
  • Ability to work with business users and technical resources to translate project requests into final deliverables
  • Ability to design project artifacts (timelines, status reports, requirements documentation, test plans)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including designing and delivering presentations to internal and external audiences for feedback and alignment on project goals and strategies

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with EMR applications and clinical data sets
  • Knowledge of HL7, FHIR, and IHE standards
  • Experience in healthcare technology project management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant fields (preferred)
  • 7+ years of project management or HCIT experience in the medical device industry
  • PMP or Agile SAFe certification (preferred)
