Job Description

About the Role

The Research Assistant Social Media and Community Outreach at the University of Kansas Medical Center will support multiple projects aimed to serve families of autistic children and the systems that support them. This includes the Online and Applied System for intervention Skills (OASIS) Training Program, developing a train-the-trainer model, establishing a statewide resource center for families of autistic children, and educational events focused on preventing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). The role involves supporting research activities, community outreach, and dissemination efforts within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate project activities such as training, webinars, community collaboration calls, team meetings, and data collection.
  • Assist with data collection, data entry, data management, and related tasks.
  • Coordinate training schedules across collaborators with supervisor and trainees.
  • Assist with standard office responsibilities such as preparing materials and filing.
  • Complete assessments during baseline, post, and follow-up sessions.
  • Attend scheduled trainings and staff meetings.
  • Utilize professional writing skills and knowledge of research practices and data collection tools.
  • Create and maintain a social media presence to share information about grants and activities, including recruiting provider agencies and state organizations.
  • Identify, connect with, and maintain relationships with resources and community providers for individuals with disabilities.
  • Organize resources and work with the IT team to input data into online databases.
  • Assist with grant or research-related tasks and other standard office responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • At least 2 years' experience with grant implementation, data management and analysis, program development, and public-facing training activities in a collaborative environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience managing social media platforms.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent oral communication and professional writing skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and/or Google Suite applications.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree.
  • At minimum 1 year experience training others in clinical or professional settings.
  • Experience understanding scientific approaches to treatment such as Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Experience conducting interventions or research with children with autism or related projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in grant activities, data management, program development, and social media management.
