About the Role

Wayne State University is seeking a Research Assistant/Data Analyst for its Crisis Response projects at the Detroit campus. The role supports grant-funded research within the School of Social Work's Center for Behavioral Health and Justice, focusing on data collection, analysis, and dissemination related to behavioral health and justice issues. Key Responsibilities

  • Support grant-funded research projects by assisting the Data Director and Data Manager in planning and executing data collection and analysis.
  • Act as the lead team member for a specific administrative data set and assist other lead members on their assigned data sets.
  • Assist with data collection, entry, coding, cleaning, and merging of multiple administrative data sets.
  • Conduct data analysis including descriptive, bivariate, predictive, and longitudinal methods.
  • Write reports for funders and interested parties, and prepare manuscripts and presentations for academic dissemination.
  • Proficiently manage and manipulate databases using SPSS, Excel, and other analytic programs.
  • Travel to site visits and meetings across Michigan, and attend team meetings and planning sessions.

Requirements

  • An advanced degree such as a master's, PhD, or PhD candidate with prior experience working with administrative data.
  • Advanced skills in database management (e.g., SPSS, Excel).
  • Experience with advanced analytic approaches, including multivariate statistics.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Content knowledge and research experience in behavioral health and criminal/juvenile justice.
  • Experience in writing peer-reviewed publications using advanced statistics.
  • Transportation across Michigan is required.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of SQL and/or R.
  • Research experience in crisis systems.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree, PhD, or PhD candidate with experience in administrative data.

Benefits & Perks

  • Salary range of $55,000 to $85,000 annually.
  • Full-time employment with benefits.
