About the Role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Lead Marketing Consultant responsible for performing research, creating search engine optimizations that will attract traffic to compelling experiences, measuring performance, and creating insights. This role will be aligned to specific lines of businesses. The role resides in the Marketing Channel Strategy and Revenue Optimization team which provides marketing services to all businesses at Wells Fargo. Three days per week in-office is required. The position involves creating and implementing SEO and AEO strategies, leveraging GenAI/LLM expertise, providing technical SEO support, and acting as a trusted subject matter expert to drive search performance and organizational SEO excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create Organic Search Strategies that will deliver business results as the marketplace transitions from Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to Answer Engine Optimization (AEO).
  • Understand business/marketing goals and create search optimization strategies such as attracting & converting searchers into buyers/users, increasing brand awareness, etc.
  • Perform keyword research, search behavior analysis, technical audits, competitive analysis, and content gap analysis utilizing SEO/AEO tools, data and analytics, customer research, and best practices to create insights and data-driven strategies.
  • Create on-page, off-page, and site-wide strategies/recommendations including meta data, site speed optimization, content strategy, information architecture, and more.
  • Create and maintain a roadmap of ongoing search opportunities/strategies for the business/marketing and track/measure implementation progress.
  • Measure business impacts of search implementations and identify post-implementation areas of optimization and actionable insights, partnering with analytics teams and search agencies.
  • Exhibit GenAI/LLM SEO expertise by staying informed on how generative AI and large language models are reshaping search behavior, and create strategies for optimizing content and technical elements for AI-generated search results.
  • Monitor emerging trends in AI Overviews (AIO), conversational search, and AI-powered search engines, identifying opportunities to adapt and optimize search strategies.
  • Proactively explore and test new optimization techniques tailored to AI-driven search experiences.
  • Provide technical support including identifying crawl issues, structured data, social markup, sitemaps, MCP, etc.
  • Collaborate with scrum teams, experience design, vendors, and other partners to influence implementation of search strategies.
  • Provide technical SEO/AEO requirements to digital, platform, vendor, and business partners to ensure pages and experiences are optimized.
  • Partner with Paid media teams to identify SEO/Paid search opportunities and present to line of business partners; provide performance insights.
  • Serve as a trusted SEO/AEO subject matter expert, providing guidance, strategic input, and fostering a culture of SEO/AEO excellence.
  • Educate stakeholders and advocate for search-friendly practices in content creation, UX, and development.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams and the internal SEO/AEO team to share insights and collaborate on initiatives.
  • Support the SEO/AEO Center of Excellence roadmap, including building processes, risk management, and site-wide capabilities.
  • Build business cases quantifying revenue opportunities and present to leadership.
  • Produce executive-level analysis and presentations for senior leaders, serving as an expert advisor on SEO/AEO strategies, data, and analytics.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Marketing, Digital Marketing, Digital Platforms experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Experience creating recommendations to attract search engine traffic utilizing tools such as Ahrefs, SEMRush, Google Search Console, Google Keyword Planner, Google Looker Studio, Google Analytics 4, CJA, etc.
  • Ability to translate search platform, marketplace, competitor, and consumer insights into effective SEO & AEO strategies.
  • Expert technical SEO/AEO knowledge and ability to advise developers and platform product owners.
  • Exposure to paid search and understanding of paid and organic performance dynamics.
  • Ability to create professional presentations with clear KPIs and compelling storylines.
  • Knowledge of current SEO/AEO industry standards, emerging concepts, and the impact of technology on search strategies.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills for engaging stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
