About the Role

StubHub is on a mission to redefine the live event experience on a global scale. The company aims to provide a safe, convenient platform for buying and selling tickets to live events worldwide, serving customers in 195 countries with over 300 million tickets available annually. The Senior Data Engineer will join the Data team to design and build systems and pipelines that centralize internal and third-party data, empowering the organization with data for analysis, reporting, product development, experimentation, and machine learning. The role involves developing core infrastructure for data lakes and warehouses, creating foundational data models, and building tooling to ensure high-quality, trustworthy data assets.

Key Responsibilities

Build and operate scalable data pipelines with robust QA, monitoring, and alerting
Create shared tooling to improve data practitioner productivity and quality across the company
Influence the direction for key infrastructure and framework choices for data pipelining and data management
Contribute to core cross-functional data models
Launch data platform features that impact the velocity of innovation and business growth
Manage individual initiatives by setting priorities, deadlines, and deliverables based on technical expertise
Foster a culture of inclusion, results-oriented execution, open innovation, and creativity within the team
Specialize in one or more business domains, building deep expertise and anticipating the needs of that vertical

Requirements

7+ years of relevant development experience in data platform or data engineering in fast-paced environments
Very high SQL proficiency, with experience in both transactional RDBMS systems and distributed systems
Strong programming and system design skills
Experience designing and developing large-scale, efficient batch and streaming data processing
Ability to analyze and reason about large datasets to identify data quality issues and insights
Experience mentoring, delegating to, and reviewing the work of junior team members
Passion for great data end-user experience and stewardship
Experience with data pipeline management and orchestration tools, such as Airflow (plus)
Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions, such as Snowflake, BigQuery, and Redshift (plus)
Experience with batch processing systems, such as Spark (plus)
