The Senior Data Engineer will be part of Freddie Mac's Enterprise Risk Business Technology Office, responsible for supporting data-driven initiatives, collaborating with business partners and technology teams, and designing and implementing data modeling solutions. This role requires strong experience in data analysis, modeling, and engineering, with the ability to communicate complex technical issues to executive audiences with varied backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather business requirements and develop solutions aligned with enterprise data strategy.
  • Architect and document data warehouse solutions using data modeling techniques.
  • Design, implement, and optimize end-to-end data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and transforming large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  • Assist the team in identifying patterns, relationships, and opportunities to monitor data quality.
  • Analyze and resolve data issues to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Evaluate and implement data storage solutions including relational databases, NoSQL databases, data lakes, and cloud storage services.
  • Build and maintain integrations with internal and external data sources and APIs.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations to improve reliability and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field; advanced studies/degree preferred.
  • 5 years' extensive experience with data technologies for analytics, data lakes/warehouses, and databases such as SQL/NoSQL (e.g., DB2, Oracle, Sybase, Mongo, Postgres).
  • 3+ years' experience with BI tools (MicroStrategy, Tableau) and data management tools.
  • 3+ years' experience with Web Service API, XML, JSON, JDBC, Java, Python.
  • Experience working with SaaS platforms such as Snowflake, Collibra, MongoDB Atlas.
  • Knowledge of enterprise data models, information classification, meta-data models, taxonomies, and ontologies.
  • Experience with data modeling tools like ERwin, ER/Studio, or Power Designer.
  • Proficiency with query languages such as PL/SQL, T-SQL, and ANSI SQL.
  • Experience with database technologies including Oracle, DB2, Sybase, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and AWS cloud databases.
  • Understanding of data warehousing and business intelligence concepts including data mesh, data fabric, data lake, data warehouse, and data marts.
  • Ability to operate as a self-motivated, pro-active, and result-driven problem solver with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Quick learner of new technologies and tools, with the ability to challenge the status quo.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with risk and GRC products.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
