About the Role

As a key member of McKinsey's Ethics and Compliance (E&C) Data & Insights team, you will work closely with program leaders to understand their needs and challenges, designing, creating and managing data engineering solutions that support the firm's ethics and compliance objectives. Your work involves overseeing the creation of scalable data pipelines, data models, and analytics frameworks that enable the collection, integration, and analysis of large datasets from multiple sources. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs, ensure data infrastructure supports real-time analytics and reporting, and develop data governance frameworks to maintain data quality, integrity, and security. Additionally, you will design and implement advanced analytics tools, such as dashboards and machine learning models, to identify emerging risks and trends, and create predictive models to proactively address compliance risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, create, and manage scalable data pipelines, data models, and analytics frameworks to support ethics and compliance objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and translate those into actionable engineering solutions.
  • Ensure data infrastructure supports real-time analytics and reporting to enable informed decision-making by leadership.
  • Develop and implement data governance frameworks to maintain data quality, integrity, and security, including data validation, monitoring, and access control.
  • Design and implement advanced analytics tools such as dashboards and machine learning models to identify risks and trends.
  • Create predictive models to enable proactive management of compliance risks.
  • Guide and mentor data analysts, providing technical training, career development, and feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree(s) in computer science, data engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Years of professional experience in data architecture and/or data engineering, with a focus on building scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions.
  • Strong expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
  • Proficiency in big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
  • Ability to build trust-based relationships with stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to drive outcomes on complex topics.
  • High levels of discretion and judgment in safeguarding confidential data and ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations.
  • Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear insights.
  • Demonstrates an entrepreneurial mindset to solve ambiguous technical challenges and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Fosters a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive environment for colleagues.
  • Passion for people development and experience leading global, multi-disciplinary teams.
