About the Role

GDIT is seeking Senior Data Engineers to support its Technology Shared Services (TSS) Data and Analytics organization. Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for data migrations, data modeling, and creating schema.
  • Provides expert-level design and development of relational databases.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains data pipelines to perform extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from sources to destinations.
  • Builds and manages cloud-native data architectures in AWS and Azure.
  • Identifies and directs information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities.
  • Leads new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing data warehouse structure.
  • Reviews business requests for data and data usage, researches data sources for new and better data feeds.
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation on data processes, pipelines, and architecture for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including performing proactive maintenance such as ensuring continued space availability, monitoring activity, and documenting problems, changes, and solutions.
  • Designs data dictionaries, database structure and layout, and manages database applications including installing and upgrading.
  • Presents insights to both technical and non-technical team members and stakeholders to support data-driven decision making.
  • Collaborates with different teams to understand their data needs and create solutions that solve problems and streamline workflows.

Requirements

  • BA/BS (or equivalent years of experience).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in AWS and Azure cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis and engineering tasks.
  • Experience with AWS data and analytics services such as RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift, Aurora, S3, and DMS.
  • Proficiency in database administration and SQL.
  • Experience in data modeling and data normalization techniques.
  • Knowledge of different data structures, including relational, semi-structured, and object stores.
  • Experience in database migrations, including homogenous and heterogenous, on-premises and cloud.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt to changing client needs.
  • Skills in programming languages like Python, R, SQL, and experience with data visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI.

Nice to Have

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate.
  • Azure Fundamentals.
  • Azure Data Fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of ITIL framework.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology.
  • Experience consulting with internal and external customers to understand business needs.
  • Previous experience in the defense or government sector.
  • Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and big data tools.
  • Experience in optimization algorithms and natural language processing.
  • Data science and cloud certifications such as CDS, AWS Machine Learning - Specialty, Azure Data Scientist Associate, IBM Data Science Professional.
  • Certifications in Tableau and/or Power BI.
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps or similar tools.
  • Link to sample data visualization work/portfolio.
