About the Role

The Senior Director of Marketing - Oncology at Sun Oncology is responsible for planning and executing marketing strategies specifically tailored for the oncology clinical practice and hospital settings. The role involves building and maintaining relationships with Oncology Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), understanding clinical data and patient journeys, contributing to cross-functional teams, and leading the launch of new products. The company emphasizes building a passionate, ethical, and credible commercial team focused on customer needs and high service levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Vice President/BU Head, Sales & Marketing.
  • Create, implement, and measure the success of comprehensive marketing, communications, media, and public relations programs within the marketplace.
  • Ensure consistent articulation of the brand strategy and positioning across the Oncology business unit and with internal and external partners.
  • Be accountable for brands meeting or exceeding annual revenue and unit forecasts.
  • Manage P&L and related budgets.
  • Lead the brand forecasting process with cross-functional teams, provide input into market assumptions, and coordinate supply needs with the supply chain team.
  • Develop and execute marketing programs and pilot initiatives to increase product adoption.
  • Analyze impact of programs (digital, NPP, Peer to Peer) to optimize marketing mix with KPIs and ROI.
  • Lead Brand Planning processes for OBU brands targeting both HCPs and patients, ensuring strategies are comprehensive and measurable.
  • Lead and manage a team of up to 4 marketers of various levels.
  • Act as subject matter expert on market landscape and competitive intelligence.
  • Spend time in the field with OAMs and customers, owning KOL relationships.
  • Participate in industry conferences to engage with customers and monitor market dynamics.
  • Mentor and develop other marketers and interns.
  • Share learnings with senior leadership to improve ROI and accelerate brand growth.
  • Lead monthly GTN meetings with Finance and liaise with shared services to ensure budget adherence and profitability.
  • Oversee inventory management with Manufacturing Supply team.
  • Facilitate or co-lead launch meetings, sales meetings, and Speaker Training meetings.
  • Work with HR and senior management to implement and ensure adherence to marketing team policies and corporate policies.
  • Contribute to medical conference strategies, ensuring brand alignment supported by data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 12 years of pharmaceutical/biotech commercial experience, including at least 7 years in Marketing/Brand Management.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience leading a team of direct reports in marketing.
  • Strong brand planning, forecasting, brand building, budget management, vendor management, and product launch experience.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with AI/ChatGPT tools.
  • Solid business and financial acumen.
  • Experience in building teams and launching new products in oncology.
  • Experience with buy-and-bill models is a strong plus.
  • Strong analytical, project management, fiscal management, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with a positive attitude and adaptability.
  • Dependable leadership skills that foster trust and transparency.
  • Collaborative, diplomatic, and respectful interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel overnight for conferences, field rides, and market research.

  • Experience in sales, managed care, and sales training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 12 years of pharmaceutical/biotech commercial experience.
  • At least 7 years in marketing/brand management.
